The Caregiver Research (CARE) Project is a project being led by the Pilipino Association of Workers and Immigrants (PAWIS), ABSV, and other members of the community. It is a “community-based participatory research” project on Filipino caregivers in Santa Clara County, which basically means that those doing the research are Filipino caregivers themselves. We believe that caregivers, who may face abuse and exploitation at their workplaces, are the foremost experts on their sector. Together with Filipino youth and other community members, we are training ourselves to do sharings with other caregivers to find out about their conditions.
We have already had two trainings, where we introduced the project and came up with a list of questions that we can ask the caregivers in our community.
Please join us for the next two BBQs (yummy, Filipino food!) on October 6 and October 20, 11:30am at Welch Park in San Jose (2300 Huran Dr, San Jose, CA)!
