On November 10, 2016, Anakbayan Silicon Valley (ABSV), a progressive Filipino youth and student organization, took to the streets with hundreds of community members at the Dump Trump protest in San Jose, California.

As migrant youth and children of migrants, we are alarmed by the recent election of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States of America. However, we also realize that the election of Donald Trump is but the latest example of corporate interests and imperialist policies gripping the American public, continuing to further oppress immigrants and other marginalized groups.

ABSV calls on individuals and organizations in the South Bay and nationwide to unite and mobilize against the real enemy: the ruling elite and the system that continues to threaten, endanger, and deport our immigrant communities. As the inauguration draws near, the actions in the streets and on college campuses will only continue. We must unite in our organizations and push for actions and campaigns that address the root causes of this unrest.

Therefore, ABSV promotes JustPeacePH, an international platform which supports the Philippine peace process through addressing the systemic issues of poverty, the freeing of political prisoners, and collective action. Just as ABSV has joined with the South Bay community in the streets, we implore our fellow social justice advocates to join our struggle for justice in the Philippines and all over the world.

Lumalakas, lumalawak, lumalaban! Anakbayan!

Long Live International Solidarity!
